Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in a critical access hospital with variable 12-hour shifts and strong ER skills required.

• Work in a critical access hospital with 8 beds, including 3 dedicated ER beds and 5 medical-surgical beds
• Patient caseload includes PNA, COPD, electrolyte imbalance, cardiac rule outs, UTI, and diabetes
• RN to patient ratio is 1:3, with two RNs per shift and support from CNA/HUC staff
• Uses Meditech EMR system and Baxter Sigma Spectrum IV pumps
• Shifts are 12 hours, rotating between day and night /), with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• RNs are responsible for ER patient triage, registration (at midnight), and assisting with common emergency and medical-surgical procedures
• Support staff includes CNA/HUC, a receptionist/HUC, M-F phlebotomy and respiratory therapy, and 24/7 access to a hospitalist (not in-house)
• Scrub color is flexible; any color is permitted
• The unit has a collaborative, upbeat culture with strong teamwork and support
• Orientation includes hospital and unit-specific onboarding; first-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Active RN license in MT or a compact state
• Minimum 2 years RN experience, with critical access and ER background preferred
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required
• Preferred certifications: CPI/MOAB, TNCC, NRP, and PALS
• IV skills, chest tube setup, triage, wound care, splint/casting assistance, physical assessment, and medication administration
• Experience using Meditech EMR preferred
