Montana Conservation Corps' (MCC) mission is to inspire young people through hands-on conservation service to be leaders, stewards of the land and engaged citizens who improve their communities. MCC is a private, nonprofit organization with four regions, approximately 40 staff and 300 members who serve each year in leader, member or intern positions. MCC receives Federal grant money through the Corporation for National & Community Service to provide participant stipends and education awards, and to support programming that offers leadership development to Leaders and Members.
MCC uses crew-based programming that employs natural resource and community service projects to foster personal and crew development. The work is field-focused to help members develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to be active citizens in their communities.
Member Duties:
Conservation Interns serve at partnering federal/state agencies, nonprofits, tribal offices, and other community-based conservation organizations across Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and the Dakotas. Projects include habitat restoration, rangeland science, soil monitoring, invasive species treatment, developed recreation management, GIS mapping, stream and wetland restoration, cave and karst feature surveys, conservation education and outreach, volunteer management, and more.
