DESCRIPTION OF POSITION’SESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for loading and charging blast holes with explosives, initiating components, decking and stemming/screens;
Dewatering blast holes using truck-mounted submersible dewatering pumps;
Accurate logging of daily powder and component usage, preparing shot records and maintaining blasting component inventory records. Work performed outdoors with exposure to dust, noise, and adverse weather. Job requires moderate laboring including repetitive and sustained physical effort, continuous walking or standing on uneven terrain, frequent lifting and carrying of materials up to 100 lbs. Schedule may include weekend work and work weeks in excess of 40 hours.
Strict compliance with all Company, State and Federal safety, work, & environmental rules and regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold current Montana Blaster’s License or be able to obtain MT license through reciprocity. Minimum of two (2) years of on-the-pattern blasting experience required. Must be able to obtain Federal BATF clearance as an employee possessor of explosives. Organizational and mathematical skills to accurately maintain blast pattern loading information, shot records and blasting component inventory records. Skill and ability to operate skid loader and dewatering truck.
Ability to communicate effectively and to interact with other production personnel to ensure teamwork and safe, efficient operations. Pre-employment physicals/drug screenings, personal & criminal backgrounds checks will be conducted on all candidates receiving conditional offers.
Successful applicant must possess a valid driver’s license through the duration of employment. Successful applicant must meet all insurability requirements as specified by Westmoreland’s policies or Driver’s insurance provider.
