About the Company:
The Medical Technologist will provide onsite pathology and laboratory medicine services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Fort Harrison. The role involves covering a full range of laboratory duties across all lab areas. Services are to be delivered onsite at the Fort Harrison VAMC.
About the Role:
The Medical Technologist will provide onsite pathology and laboratory medicine services to eligible beneficiaries of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC), Fort Harrison. The role involves covering a full range of laboratory duties across all lab areas. Services are to be delivered onsite at the Fort Harrison VAMC.
Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical laboratory testing in various lab sections, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with VA medical staff to maintain quality of pathology and lab services.
- Maintain certifications and complete required continuing education.
- Comply with all federal and VA-specific regulations, including infection control, safety, and personnel conduct.
- Provide timely coverage for shifts including days, evenings, nights, and federal holidays as required.
- Submit required documentation and participate in credentialing and privileging processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year clinical laboratory experience.
- Certification required from one of the following:
- American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
- American Medical Technologist (AMT)
- American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Must have worked within last 6 months.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.
- Ability to comply with VA-required training (EHR, TMS courses, BLS, infection control).
Compliance and Other Requirements:
- Annual OIG and SAM exclusion checks mandatory.
- Proof of immunity/testing for TB, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, and Influenza required.
- Must meet VA and federal employment eligibility laws, including E-Verify compliance.
- Adhere to VA policies on conflict of interest, personnel conduct, and safety regulations.
- Immediate replacement of personnel if conduct or performance issues arise.
Work Schedule:
- Shift coverage across days, evenings, and nights, 7 days a week, including federal holidays.
- Must be able to provide coverage during absences or vacancies within 2 hours notification.
