This Correctional Program Specialist provides social and therapeutic services to assist with rehabilitation of offenders in custody, though work in the Rehabilitation and Programs Division. This position will assess offenders through motivational interviewing and established evidence‑based practices. Responsibilities include coordinating and completing intake and release‑planning information for offenders programming.
Responsibilities- Interviewing offenders regularly to evaluate their progress with accomplishing goals and maintaining the terms specified in their contracts and rehabilitation plans.
- Establishing goals for the offender by gauging compliance with court‑ordered restrictions and observing the effectiveness of treatment.
- Preparing treatment reports or special requests for law offenders in custody, developing treatment and programming plan and strategies collaboratively with offenders, facilitating individual and group programming with offenders, managing, and modifying assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and planning services.
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, psychology, education, or a related field and;
- 2 years of related experience is required.
Alternative combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case‑by‑case basis.

Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) - Any person who has
1) engaged in sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution;
2) been convicted of engaging in or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or
3) been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in activity as described in the latter, are not qualified for this position.
Tobacco Free - The use of all tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco products and tobacco substitutes is prohibited in Department of Corrections buildings. In secure care facilities possession of tobacco products is prohibited.
