Position: Hotel Controller for The Baxter Hotel in Bozeman, MT

Description

Noble House Hotels and Resorts owns and operates or manages a portfolio of 25+ luxury independent hotels and resorts around the country and Mexico. We will be transitioning The Baxter Hotel in Bozeman, Montana and are seeking a Hotel Controller that will be working on-site at this location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the hotel's overall financial management and accounting.
  • Maintains all financial statements, such as balance sheets, invoices, payables, and receivables.
  • Analyze financial statements and compile financial reports.
  • Establish financial reporting policies and procedures.
  • Determine ways to reduce costs by monitoring the hotel's financial reports.
  • Preparation and review of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and accuracy of all transactions.
  • Ensures that taxes are correctly charged and monitors all local tax compliance.
  • Establishes new departmental codes by verifying and creating them.
  • Assists auditors in preparing their annual audits by providing needed information.
  • Analyze the internal control system.
  • Ensures that internal and external financial statements are prepared.
  • Maintain a timely payment schedule for accounts payable.
  • Ensure prompt collection of receivables.
  • Ensure all checks are approved and signed.
  • Reconcile your bank accounts on a periodic basis.
  • Manage the general ledger and accounting functions and systems.
  • Ensure that the balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and manage the closing process at month's end.
  • Compile a physical inventory, conduct an audit, and summarize the results.
  • Interviews, hires, and trains new team members.
  • Keeps track of the hotel's financial situation and confirms it.
  • Ensure that general journal entries are prepared and entered.
  • Provides special projects on a need-to-know basis.
  • Analyzes future earnings and expenses, as well as produces and manages balance sheets.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, required.
  • Seven or more years of experience in a similar role, with at least 3 years in a leadership role in a resort or luxury hotel setting.
  • Experience with HOA accounting preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in recruiting, training, and developing staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service and cleanliness.
  • Professional appearance and presentation required.
  • Knowledge of and skill in using computer software, including MS Word/Excel/Outlook and POS.
