This position is in the Fort Peck Housing Authority (FPHA) office, Poplar, Montana. This position is responsible for maintaining FPHA accounting records, to include but not limited to preparing accounts payable, quarterly and annual reports, processing checks, and reviewing financial statements.

  • The incumbent will supervise a staff of 1 permanent employee, Accounts Payroll Clerk.
  • Incumbent performs budget administration functions in the formulation, execution, and review of assigned portions of the FPHA budget, which includes a variety of federal contracts and/or grants.
  • Monitors and tracks cash balances, payables, receivables, obligations, and expenditure throughout the operating budget year. Verifies that obligations and expenditures occur on a timely basis in accordance with an annual work plan, specific work objectives, FPHA financial policies and are within budgeted amounts.
  • Reports and corrects variations more than accepted funding limits.
  • Monitors, controls, and maintains account transactions and accounting records for FPHA. Reconciles general ledger financial reports daily.
  • Research discrepancies between financial reports and makes necessary adjustments.
  • Prepares quarterly and annual reports for the Executive Director and Board of Commissioners, which include federal and state tax returns, W-2 forms, payroll reports and 1099 forms.
  • Performs other administrative duties such as establishing and maintaining financial record system, providing and information regarding financial services provided, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or Board of Commissioners.
