Responsibilities and Duties:
Proactively and safely lead within the Production Geology group in alignment with Sibanye Stillwater's leadership principles (Character, Communication, Teamwork, Business Sense, Vision) with particular focus on all production initiatives, planning the work, and driving accountability of Geologists to work standards. This also includes leading and participating in safety meetings, safety inspections, and monitoring compliance with established company safety policies. May contribute to cooperative grade control studies and planning efforts related to narrow vein mining and dilution control.
Assist in employee development and skills training. Collaborate with all departments to ensure effective communications. Participate in the interview process and make recommendations for hiring.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven leadership skills
- Computer skills plus the ability to learn and utilize Company authorized software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Understanding of Stillwater Complex geology and J-M Reef minerology
- Understanding of all production geology related skills, including grade control procedures, dilution control, stope design, sublevel theory.
- Ability to positively lead and influence group with emphasis back to core leadership abilities outlined in the leadership matrix.
- Independent work habits.
Education & Experience
- S. in Geology related field and 2-4 years of underground geology experience
- Supervisory experience in technical or frontline operations
