PHILIPSBURG SCHOOL DISTRICT VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION TITLE:
Upper Elementary Teacher (4th-6th)
SALARY: Base Salary Range: $ 43,671 Starting.
Paid Time Off: (PTO - sick and/or leave – 15 days per year), health benefits available as well as coaching opportunities, 4 day school calendar SY.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* B.S. or B.A. in Elementary Education
* Valid Montana Teaching Certificate with K-8 Elementary Curriculum (00E ELE)
* Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and the community.
* Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
* Ability to handle stressful situations.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and employee records.
* Ability to effectively manage time and responsibilities.
DESIRED
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Successful teaching experience preferred
* Experience with professional learning committees
* Strong classroom management skills
* Early Childhood Endorsement and/or ELA Literacy Endorsement
* Willingness to coach or sponsor extra-curricular activities
DEFINITION:
Under general supervision, serves as classroom teachers in grades K-8 and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student's ability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
* Demonstrates mastery of the curriculum and current instructional practices.
* Exhibits evidence of planning and preparation to facilitate effective instruction.
* Establishes, communicates, and facilitates high standards of learning for all students
* Uses a variety of instructional strategies to meet students’ needs.
* Organizes time, materials and equipment for effective instruction.
* Prepares classroom instruction to meet the needs of all students.
* Assesses student learning using a variety of assessment strategies.
* Conducts standardized assessments in accordance with District policies and state law.
* Creates and maintains a classroom environment conducive to student learning.
* Performs non-instructional duties as assigned, such as monitoring hallways, lunchroom, playground, bus loading and unloading supervision, etc.
* Keeps accurate student records.
* Consults with other professionals, according to the needs of students.
* Reports cases of suspected child abuse according to state law.
* Complies with Board policies, rules, regulations, and directives.
* Participates in professional development activities.
* Directs classroom aides and volunteers under their direct supervision.
* Demonstrates punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
* Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

Promethean Board, computer, projectors, calculator, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works inside, but some duties will be performed outside, including recess, field trips, etc. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee frequently will work irregular or extended work hours while performing the duties of this job. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, and work output of students.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk, and stand; twist at neck and waist; kneel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet environments. May be required to lift or move up to 35 pounds.
MENTAL/MOTOR DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee rarely performs routine work. The employee frequently exercises flexibility (ability to shift from one task to another). Guidance and reinforcement are infrequently available. The employee frequently works within time constraints and maintains attentiveness intensity. The employee is frequently involved in social interactions that require oral and written communications.
