Shields Valley Schools is seeking an outstanding, student-centered Social Studies Teacher to join our junior high and high school team in beautiful Clyde Park, Montana. We are a small, close-knit rural district committed to strong relationships, academic excellence, and preparing students for success in college, careers, and community life.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will teach a combination of junior high and high school social studies courses. Specific course assignments may include U.S. History, World History, Government, Economics, Geography, Sociology, or other related electives based on certification and experience.

Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in social studies

* Foster critical thinking, civic engagement, and historical inquiry skills

* Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs

* Utilize formative and summative assessments to guide instruction

* Maintain accurate records, including attendance and grading

* Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues

* Collaborate with staff in curriculum planning and school improvement efforts

* Supervise students and fulfill assigned extracurricular or duty responsibilities

Qualifications

* Valid Montana teaching license with appropriate Broadfield Social Studies endorsement (or ability to obtain)

* Strong classroom management and organizational skills

* Commitment to high expectations and student engagement

* Effective communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Attributes

* Ability to teach multiple social studies disciplines

* Willingness to sponsor student organizations, clubs, or coach activities

* Familiarity with instructional technology and data-informed instruction

* Passion for building strong school-community connections

About Shields Valley Schools

The Shields Valley community is a combination of 2 towns, Wilsall, where the K-6 building resides, and then Clyde Park, the location of grades 7-12. This Class-C community is about 20 miles north of Livingston, Montana, at the base of the scenic Crazy Mountains with amazing outdoor recreation opportunities. Our 7-12 student population is 90 students, ensuring small class sizes and more personalized instruction.  

We value community involvement, academic rigor, and opportunities for students both inside and outside the classroom. We operate on a four-day school week that works well for teachers and families.  Affordable district housing is available.
