Are you an experienced SENCO looking for a rewarding leadership role where you can make a genuine difference to pupils with additional needs?

A welcoming and well-resourced specialist SEN school in Hackney is seeking a confident and compassionate SENCO to join their team on a cover basis

The Role

As SENCO, you will play a central role in shaping and leading the school's SEND provision, ensuring pupils receive the tailored support they need to succeed both academically and socially.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating the school's SEND provision in line with the SEND Code of Practice
  • Overseeing EHCPs, support plans and targeted interventions
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, parents and external agencies
  • Monitoring pupil progress and ensuring effective support strategies are in place
  • Supporting and guiding staff with best practice for inclusive teaching
  • Helping maintain a positive, structured and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (
    QTS
    )
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it)
  • Experience working within SEN or specialist settings
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Confident leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • A compassionate and proactive approach to supporting pupils and families
