• The School Nutrition Assistant shall be responsible to the School Nutrition Kitchen Manager and/or Building Facilitator, the building principal to which she/he is assigned and the superintendent.
• The School Nutrition Assistant is responsible for assisting the School Nutrition Kitchen Manager and/or Building Facilitator with planning, coordinating, and supervising the food preparation and distribution at his/her assigned building.
• The School Nutrition Assistant is responsible for helping the School Nutrition Kitchen Manager and/or Building Facilitator to provide each student with food of high nutritious quality in an atmosphere of cleanliness, cheerfulness, and personal caring.
• The School Nutrition Assistant shall stand‑in as the facilitator in the absence of the School Nutrition Kitchen Manager and/or Building Facilitator and perform all duties as set out by the facilitator.

• Assists the School Nutrition Kitchen Manager and/or Building Facilitator with the activities of preparing, portioning, and serving meals according to menus and in quantities that follow the state nutritional guidelines.
• Maintains meals accounts, notifies students when they have a low balance, and prepares weekly and monthly meal count summaries in the absence of the School Nutrition Kitchen Manager and/or Building Facilitator.
• Prepares food items as required.
• Inspects the school lunch facility to ensure that standards of diet, cleanliness, health and safety are being maintained.
• Maintains an inventory of all foods, supplies and equipment in assigned building from the main storeroom supplies.
• Assumes responsibility for receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving food according to established standards.
• Promotes student and staff satisfaction by preparing and serving meals in an attractive manner.
• Works cooperatively with the building principal, and other Food Service employees.
• Performs other related duties and related activities as assigned.

• Prior experience in the food service industry preferred.
• Be able to work effectively with groups of students and adults.
• Hold other qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools and Board of Trustees may demand at the time of selection.
