Reporter/Photographer Responsibilities
- Demonstrate writing, grammar, editing, factual accuracy and a thorough knowledge of journalism skills including AP style writing, interview skills, ability to develop own story ideas, phone skills and excellent communication skills, along with an understanding of the objectivity required and essential journalism ethics.
- Use a digital camera or a 35 mm single‑lens reflex (SLR) camera to achieve professional compositions and exposures.
- Pass a skills test administered to determine journalism aptitude.
- Maintain a broad range of knowledge about the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes government, culture, history, issues and current events.
- Pass a pre‑hire drug test if not already employed by the Tribes.
- At least three years of college with demonstratable college training in journalism or equivalent hands‑on work experience.
- Provide a portfolio or writing/editing/photography clippings, or photocopies of relevant work.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
- Have broad knowledge of CSKT government, culture, history, issues and current events.
- Understand that this position is not a Testing Designated Position (TDP) within the CSKT drug testing policy.
Salary range: $20.96 to $27.22 per hour, plus benefits.
