We are currently seeking a Purchasing Agent to join our team. This role plays a key part in coordinating trade partner procurement, analyzing bids, and supporting contract execution that directly impacts the success of our construction projects.
What You’ll Do:Bid Coordination & Subcontractor Procurement
- Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor bids for completeness and compliance with project specifications.
- Prepare bid comparisons and make contract award recommendations to the Purchasing Manager.
- Conduct scope reviews and trade meetings to clarify project deliverables and expectations.
- Draft, issue, and manage subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and supporting documentation.
- Support Project Managers in reviewing change orders, back charges, and claims for additional compensation.
- Coordinate value engineering (VE) suggestions and cost-saving measures for client consideration.
- Provide pricing and scope support for plan updates or significant design changes.
- Maintain and update trade partner databases, cost logs, and buyout schedules.
- Work closely with the Director of Purchasing and project teams to ensure timely contract execution.
- Track subcontractor compliance and maintain thorough records, including prequalification data.
- Prepare correspondence, bid logs, reports, and other materials for internal and client-facing use.
- Participate in buyout meetings, jobsite walks, and project startup coordination.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction purchasing, preferably in multifamily projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction specifications, scopes of work, and subcontractor relationships.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with Building Connected, Procore, PM Web, Docu Sign, or Dropbox is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Highly organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities independently.
