The full-time Community Development Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Green County Development Corporation’s (GCDC) mission to catalyze economic growth and enhance quality of life throughout Green County. This position leads community-facing programs that develop leadership, strengthen workforce connections, and engage residents in building a vibrant local economy. The Coordinator oversees signature initiatives such as Green County Leaders, Connect Green County, the Youth Business Plan Competition, and Hometown Internships—while building strong partnerships with schools, employers, and civic organizations to foster leadership and retain local talent.
ESSENSTIALDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
including the following:
- 1. Leadership and Workforce Development
- Manage all aspects of Green County Leaders (GCL), including coordination with UW–Extension, session planning, speakers, logistics, and participant communication.
- Build and maintain engagement with GCL alumni through book clubs, networking events, and community leadership opportunities.
- Lead the Hometown Internship Program, connecting students with employers and tracking program outcomes.
- Coordinate Connect Green County (CGC) events and board support to engage young professionals and strengthen community ties.
- Support workforce development initiatives and partnerships that align with GCDC’s economic development goals.
- Assist with grant writing and reporting for leadership, workforce, and talent development programs, providing stories, data, and metrics for funding applications and compliance.
- 2. Youth Entrepreneurship and Education Partnerships
- Coordinate the Youth Business Plan Competition, including outreach to schools, mentor recruitment, and competition logistics.
- Strengthen partnerships between schools, technical colleges, and employers to promote workforce readiness and entrepreneurship.
- Support communications and scheduling for the Home Construction Cooperative (HCC), working with the General Contractor and school staff.
- Represent GCDC at community events, meetings, and regional gatherings.
- Collect data, success stories, and photos for newsletters, reports, and grant updates.
- Collaborate with the Project Coordinator on program-related communications and promotional efforts.
- Maintain organized program files and prepare timely updates for the Executive Director and Board.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE- Bachelor’s degree in community development, communications, business, public administration, education, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in program management, community engagement, workforce or leadership development, or nonprofit coordination.
- Experience working with schools, employers, or civic organizations preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Excellent relationship-building and communication skills with comfort working across sectors and age groups.
- Strong project management and organizational skills; able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Confident public speaker and facilitator; comfortable representing GCDC in community settings.
- Creative, resourceful, and motivated by improving rural community vitality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and social media tools.
- Willingness to work occasional early mornings or evenings for events.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The work is performed primarily in an indoor setting where the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
