Position Overview

The Food Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and enforcing all food safety, sanitation, and quality systems specific to our Ready‑to‑Eat (RTE) Monroe, WI operation.

This role ensures compliance with FSMA, HACCP, and GFSI requirements, with particular emphasis on post‑lethality exposure controls, environmental monitoring, sanitation effectiveness, and regulatory and customer expectations.

This position serves as a key liaison for food safety matters, establishing strong communication and alignment between the Monroe plant, the Lake Saint Louis office, our third‑party warehouse(s), our primary product supplier, and other cross‑functional partners across the organization to ensure consistent execution of food safety expectations across the business.

Key Responsibilities – Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all food safety requirements are implemented, maintained, and consistently followed across operations/warehousing/distribution.
  • Maintain HACCP, FSMA, and GFSI compliance and serve as the site's food safety authority with the ability to stop production when food safety concerns arise.
  • Act as a primary liaison between operations, sanitation, contractors, supply chain, and leadership teams, fostering strong cross‑functional communication and accountability.
  • Develop strong working relationships with our product supplier and corporate partners.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the operation and third‑party warehouse(s).
Key Responsibilities – RTE Controls
  • Manage post‑lethality controls, including zoning, traffic patterns, hygienic design, and sanitation practices.
  • Lead the Environmental Monitoring Program, including trending and corrective actions.
  • Manage and maintain the product Positive Release Program through the business center’s Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) system (Warhouse

    BOS).
Sanitation & Preventive Programs
  • Verify sanitation effectiveness through inspections and testing.
  • Oversee pest control programs.
  • Develop and improve upon Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and ensure sanitation efforts align with those standards.
Audits & Investigations
  • Lead internal audits, mock recalls, and traceability exercises.
  • Investigate food safety incidents and customer complaints.
  • Serve as site lead for external, regulatory, GFSI, and customer audits.
Third‑Party Warehouses
  • Ensure all third‑party wash houses comply with Anderson’s Warehouse Guidelines and GMPs.
Documentation & Record Management
  • Maintain accurate food safety records.
  • Generate and manage Certificates of Analysis (COAs).
  • Ensure strong document control and data integrity.
Training & Leadership
  • Train and coach employees on RTE food safety requirements.
  • Supervise QA/Food Safety activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, microbiology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3–5 years of food safety experience; RTE preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

Physical Requirements and Working Environment

  • Both office and plant environment
  • Off‑shift or weekend work may be required
  • May be required to travel to other Andersons sites to assist in internal audits
  • Usually work a standard work week (normal business hours), but may be required to work overtime hours
  • Extensive computer work

  • Manage numerous projects in progress at any given time

  • Exposure to machinery, forklifts, and related production equipment
