At Wet Noses Natural Dog Treat Company, the Baking Lead supports the Manager and Supervisor in the daily operations of the Baking Department. This role works closely with the Baking Supervisor to ensure production processes are executed to the required specifications and company standards. The Baking Lead helps guide the team, provides on-the-floor leadership, and assists in coordinating daily tasks to maintain production flow, food safety, and quality standards.
This position is performed in a large industrial manufacturing setting with ovens over 100 feet long and mixers weighing approximately 2,000 pounds. The role requires attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to work in a physically demanding environment.

- Monitor and support employees during production activities to ensure adherence to company standards, safety, and sanitation procedures.
- Review and sign off on batch sheets to verify ingredient accuracy and documentation completion.
- Confirm oven and dryer settings meet required specifications and product standards.
- Participate actively in daily operations, including cleaning, material pulling, and staging for maximum efficiency.
- Motivate and maintain positive morale within the team to enhance productivity while upholding product quality.
- Monitor and record loss or spoilage per shift; complete shift reports in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Maintain sanitation procedures and ensure a clean, organized, and compliant work area.
- Oversee and operate baking machinery; communicate equipment issues to the Operations Manager and Maintenance as needed.
- Partner with the Supervisor and Inventory Associate to monitor ingredient inventory for efficiency.
- Act as team leader in the Supervisor’s absence, ensuring consistent workflow and production quality.
- Keep stock and finished product organized and in proper rotation.
- Follow and comply with established procedures, including weights and measures, health and sanitation standards, and safe work practices.
- Operate, clean, and sanitize all equipment safely and correctly.
- Report food safety and quality issues to personnel with authority to initiate action (any member of management or Supervisor).
- Extensive knowledge of Baking Department procedures and policies.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate team members.
- Ability to foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages safety, attendance, and teamwork.
- High degree of personal integrity and professionalism.
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively communicate and report to department leadership.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities.
- Capable of problem-solving and applying critical thinking to production issues.
- Ability to operate all necessary equipment (Forklift, Pallet Jack, Hopper).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively and maintain accountability.
