American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU night shift position in Monroe, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Job Details

• 14-bed Medical ICU unit within a 174-bed community hospital designated as a Stroke Center,

• Adult ICU patient population with diagnoses including sepsis, DKA, stroke, CIWA, respiratory/kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, surgical patients, CHF, and COPD - no cardiothoracic or high-level neuro surgeries,

• Patient ratios of 1:2-3 depending on staffing,

• 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM,

• Weekend rotation: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday eligible),

• Floating may occur to other areas for ICU or PCU patients;
Med Surg float is possible but not typical; travelers float in rotation with staff,

• No on-call or callback requirements,

• EMR:
Epic (experience required); IV pumps:
Alaris; medication dispensing:
Omnicell; monitors:
Philips,

Job Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required,

• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required,

• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year,

• Proficiency with Epic EMR required,

• Experience with vented patients, tracheostomies, chest tubes, critical drip management, central line maintenance, arterial lines, wound care, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, PIV starts, and NG tube insertion/maintenance,

• One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration,

• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration,

Additional Information

• Brief orientation includes facility NEO followed by 2 unit orientation shifts,

• Night shift support includes 1 CNA (who also covers HUC duties), a charge RN (part of Rapid Response/Code Team), remote triage RN with camera monitoring and access to a remote physician, anesthesia available for central line placements, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, and a virtual intensivist overnight,

• Phlebotomy is available 24/7, though ICU nurses draw their own labs; PICC Team available during day shifts,

• Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved per contract,

• Holiday coverage expected for 50% of holidays during the contract,

• Navy blue scrubs required,

• Free on-site parking available,

• Candidates must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted,

• Former employees of any AHSE facility must have been separated from a permanent position for at least 1 year before being eligible,
