Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 12-hour night shift travel contract at a 174-bed hospital in Monroe, NC, requiring a minimum of 2 years of ICU experience and Epic proficiency.
Responsibilities- 14-bed Medical ICU unit within a 174-bed acute care hospital in Monroe, NC
- Adult patient population with diagnoses including sepsis, DKA, stroke, CIWA, respiratory/kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, surgical cases, CHF, and COPD — no cardiothoracic or high-level neuro surgeries
- Patient ratio of 1:2–3 depending on staffing
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM (1900–0700)
- Weekend rotation requires 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling cycle; shifts may fall on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday
- 50% of assigned holidays must be worked
- 6-week schedule cycles with the ability to submit schedule requests, though the supervisor balances the schedule to unit needs
- May float to other areas to care for ICU or PCU patients;
Med Surg float is possible but uncommon; float rotation is shared with staff - No on-call or call-back requirements

Philips - Candidates must have a permanent address located more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Former employees of any AHSE facility who held a permanent position must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible
- Night shift support includes 1 CNA who also covers HUC duties, a charge RN who participates in Rapid Response/Code Teams, remote monitoring via in-room cameras with access to a remote triage RN and virtual critical care physician, phlebotomy available 24/7 (though ICU staff draw their own labs), anesthesia available for central line placements, and RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage around the clock
- PICC team and in-person Intensivist are available during daytime hours only
- Bedside monitors and central monitors at the nurses' station are available
- Orientation includes a general facility NEO followed by 2 unit orientation shifts
- Up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) may be approved
- Scrub color required:

- Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency with vented patients, tracheostomies, chest tubes, critical drip maintenance, central line maintenance, arterial lines, wound care, wound vacs, drains, cardiac rhythm interpretation, PIV starts, and NG tube insertion/maintenance
- At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
