Schedule:
12 hour straight shift (5:30am-6:00pm, weekdays and occasional weekends)
Responsible for control and operation of an entire chemical process or system, including reaction chemistry processes. Responsible for the quality of the batch manufacturing finished products. Provide backup assistance to area supervisor and assist in conducting department training and communications meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate chemical processes to manufacture products throughout the facility, including reaction chemistry processes with high temperature, vacuum, condensing, reflux, decanting and byproduct recovery.
- Lead training and mentoring for Chemical Operators and develop improvement methods focused on cost reductions and productivity gains.
- Coordinate staging of raw materials and use of logistics support.
- Follow written production operating instructions and formulations; lead efforts to update procedures for efficiency and safety gains.
- Accurately add and record required material amounts; ensure finished products meet quality criteria and specified appearance.
- Perform in-process quality testing and make batch/equipment adjustments as needed.
- Gather and record operating information and data; monitor batch progress using data systems to support process decisions.
- Maintain safety by recognizing chemical hazards (flammables, corrosives, high temperatures) and participate in problem resolution related to batch quality issues.
- Regulate or shut down equipment in emergencies and participate in emergency response efforts.
- Inspect and coordinate maintenance scheduling; coordinate shift transfers and communicate process issues and batch status; adjust schedules during off hours.
- Direct housekeeping and spill control as required; assist with loading trucks as necessary.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts; may be required to fill containers; perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience6+ years of related experience and/or training. Reaction chemistry experience required.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations- Forklift License
- Hazwoper 24 hr certification preferred
