Lead Custodian; Evening Shift

Lead Custodian (Evening Shift) at Union County Public Schools.

• Performs all essential job functions required by custodians.
• Instructs custodial personnel on the proper procedures for operation and use of equipment, including the mixing, storage, and use of cleaning materials.
• Provides additional one-on-one training to ensure each custodian under supervision is knowledgeable of proper cleaning procedures and techniques.
• Makes daily checks of work to determine if desired standards are met.
• Performs periodic inspections of all parts of the school, including building safety and sanitation, floor care, hardware function, heating plants and air conditioning units.
• Initiates work order requests and recommendations for maintenance and repairs in these areas.
• Reports inoperative or unsafe equipment to the Maintenance Department immediately.
• Requests supplies and equipment from the District Lead Custodian; maintains records of equipment and supplies received.
• Ensures buildings are secured and custodial staff is advised of proper security procedures.

• Significant knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to lead and train other custodial personnel.
• Knowledge of general safety requirements (e.g., blood-borne pathogens, personal safety equipment) and safety requirements pertaining specifically to custodial equipment and supplies.
• Ability to relate, cooperate and coordinate with principals, teachers and staff on a routine basis.
• Physical demands are medium to heavy work.
• Driver's license is required.
