As a Peer Support Specialist and Team Lead, you’ll walk alongside individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders, offering support that only someone who has been there can provide. We are looking for at least 2 (male and female) people in the Davidson County/Lexington, NC area. This is an onsite/community-based role (not remote). You will not be working in the Monroe office. The Monroe Office will be where your Direct Supervisor/home base will be. You will be working out of the satellite office in Lexington, NC.

- Facilitate one-on-one and group interventions that promote self-worth, personal safety, boundary setting, and growth
- Support clients in developing recovery plans, Psychiatric Advance Directives (PADs), and Wellness Recovery Action Plans (WRAPs)
- Enhance clients’ coping, communication, and self-management skills
- Assist clients in system navigation, including advocacy, appointments, and benefit access
- Provide crisis and post-crisis support
- Assist with skill development in daily living, socialization, and symptom management
- Educate clients on available community resources and support re-entry following hospitalization
- Help clients manage appointments with mental health professionals
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in person-centered planning
- Respond as a first responder for crises on a 24/7/365 basis
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with agency and Medicaid standards
- Lived experience with a mental health or substance use disorder
- NC Peer Support Specialist Certification
- High school diploma or GED
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with clients and members of the treatment team
- Stable recovery and self-identification as a person in recovery
- Valid NC driver’s license
- Observational skills to interpret demeanor and spot signs of distress or crisis
- Ability to work flexible hours and in varied settings
- Compassion, resilience, and the ability to build trust with diverse populations
- Comfort working independently while staying connected to a supportive team
- Not a family member of the individual receiving services
- Ongoing training and development, including NCI and Peer Support-specific training
- Clinical supervision from a Qualified Professional (QP)

This role involves travel within the community and requires a flexible schedule based on client needs. Peer Support staff may work individually or with small groups (not exceeding 1:9 ratio), under a supervision ratio of 1:6 (QP to Peer Support FTEs). Services are billed in 15-minute increments.
