Essential Functions
- Process development applications including subdivision, rezoning, special use, commercial site plan, zoning compliance, and other similar land use development applications.
- Enter projects into the Evolve System.
- Assist with rezoning applications, posting property, and gathering pertinent site data.
- Assist with enforcement of zoning codes by visiting sites and writing notices of violations.
- Perform research to gather and analyze data for ordinance amendments, rezoning requests, and other planning projects for board meetings.
- Provide support services to Senior Planners and Stormwater Engineer.
- Serve as an information resource for walk‑in traffic and telephone inquiries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Planning, Architecture, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Licenses or
Certifications:
Valid Driver's License and maintain a safe driving history in accordance with the Union County Vehicle Use Policy. - Special Requirements:
Proficient with technology applicable to the position (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) at an intermediate level.
- Education:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in Planning, Architecture, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, or a related field; plus one (1) year of GIS experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Licenses or
Certifications:
Certified Zoning Official (CZO) certification within two years upon meeting the minimum qualifications. - Special Requirements:
Proficient with technology applicable to the position (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint) at an intermediate level. - Must have a valid Driver's License and maintain a safe driving history as defined by the Union County Vehicle Use Policy.
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, typewriters, blueprint machines, copiers, electric erasers, light tables, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle, exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
Work is performed in a safe and secure work environment that may periodically have unpredictable requirements or demands.
