The Claims Clerk is responsible for coordinating safety-related claims, including workers’ compensation, general liability, and property damage, while ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. This role involves collaboration with safety personnel, insurance carriers, and legal teams to minimize risks, process claims efficiently, and promote a safe working environment across all construction projects.
Key Responsibilities- Draft claims for workers’ compensation, liability, and property claims to be reviewed/approved by the Safety Manager.
- Coordinate with insurance carriers, third-party administrators (TPAs), and legal counsel for claim resolution.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of claims and related documentation.
- Safety Manager will investigate claims by collecting incident reports, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing root causes, then provide details to Administrative Assistant for preparation of the claim documentation/submittal package.
- Monitor claim status and ensure timely communication with all stakeholders.
- Generate detailed reports on claims trends, costs, and outcomes for management review.
- Analyze data to identify areas of improvement in safety practices and claims management.
- Present findings and recommendations to the Safety Manager.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned by Safety Manager and Safety Department Personnel.
QualificationsEducation and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, Safety, or a related field (preferred).
- 2–5 years of experience in claims management, safety administration, or a related role in the construction industry.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and workers’ compensation regulations.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Drive.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
- Associate in Claims (AIC)
- OSHA 30-Hour Certification
- Office-based with occasional travel to job sites as required.
- Must reside less than one hour drive from Monroe, NC.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment.
- May involve exposure to construction site conditions, including outdoor environments.
