BASIC FUNCTIONThe Maintenance Planner is responsible for improving workforce safety, productivity, and work quality. The role manages and plans shop non‑emergency work orders for equipment to maximize reliability, optimize maintenance costs, and reduce equipment downtime. It coordinates with operating and maintenance personnel to plan preventive, predictive, and scheduled corrective maintenance, as well as emergency and project work. The planner supports the ERP‑Equipment Reliability Process and serves as system manager of the Computerized Maintenance Management (CMM) system for the assigned area.
Qualifications- Five (5) years of hands‑on experience in a heavy manufacturing environment, or equivalent.
- Post‑secondary education in administration, engineering, or a technical college diploma in an electrical or mechanical discipline.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fast learner, independent worker, able to perform and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proficient with computers and databases.
- Plan and coordinate proactive maintenance activities of equipment, providing technical assistance and maintenance expertise.
- Develop detailed job plans, manage work orders and backlog for planned work, and ensure proper data management in maintenance software systems.
- Build and maintain spare parts lists in CMM system to maximize equipment reliability.
- Participate in down day, outage and weekly planning meetings; coordinate and assist during such activities.
- Conduct routine safety and preventative maintenance activities, including inspections, audits, employee contacts and visibility tours.
- Maintain compliance with visual management standards and environmental legal requirements.
- Support major failure incident investigations and project management related to equipment reliability.
- Develop planning and scheduling for non‑emergency work orders and coordinate work orders within the plant.
- Assist in the development and management of spare parts lists and equipment hierarchy.
- Champion the equipment reliability process and promote employee ownership of processes and procedures.
- Manage work with outside vendors and consultants; monitor performance and ensure procedures comply with safety and environmental regulations.
- Ensure timely completion of preventive and predictive maintenance within specifications and compliance with applicable rules and standards.
