Job Summary
The Technician II - Structured Cabling must be able to perform the technical responsibilities of a Cable Installer and function as a lead member of a technical team. The Technician II - Structured Cabling will coordinate small groups of installers in the performance of daily workload including adherence to Company safety and quality standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Install a work area outlet for floor or wall (terminate CAT 3 & CAT 5 jacks, mount face plates and surface mount boxes correctly, adhere to IES COMMERCIAL labeling standards).
- Build closets (mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required. Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).
- Perform testing: continuity test horizontal and riser cable; use of volt‑ohmmeter; troubleshoot opens, crosses, shorts, and transpose pairs on horizontal and riser cable.
- Identify active voice or data circuits.
- Assume responsibility for effective performance of crew and provide necessary training, coordinate personnel and timeline to complete project.
- Fully complete all IES Communications paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers and others as required).
- Adhere to and participate in all Company, customer and industry quality and safety standards and regulations.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
Salary: USD $23.00/Hr. – USD $29.00/Hr.

- Act as Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
- Possess proven problem‑solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read and write.
- Ability to work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
- Endure long periods of standing, walking, or working in inclement weather and possess sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and move heavy objects.
- See and distinguish different colors, read small print and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
- Travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
- Regular attendance is mandatory.
- Have adequate transportation to get to the jobsite.
- Screwdriver (regular and Phillips), drywall saw, torpedo level, tape measure, snips (with belt sheath), pliers (needle nose and channel locks), hammer, wrench set, cable stripper, flashlight and gloves.
- Trade tools:
Punch tool with 110/66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool.
- High School diploma or GED equivalency.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field and demonstrate the ability to supervise others.
- Proficient with the listed tools.
- Proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including specifications, reporting, and quality requirements.
- Know the universal communications color codes.
- Meet Company minimum driving standards.
