- 2 years’ of college; OR 1 year’s retail experience and 1 year’s supervisory experience; OR 2 years’ general work experience and 1 year’s supervisory experience.
- For facilities that sell firearms, a firearms-specific Criminal Background Check (CBC) and Firearms Authorized Training may be required.
- For facilities that sell only ammunition and have state-specific requirements, a current state issued Certificate of Eligibility may be required.
- Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).
- Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University;
Certificate of Completion in People and Business Leadership through Live Better U and Bellevue University;
General work experience supervising 5 or more direct reports including performance management, mentoring, hiring, and firing.

- Leads and develops teams by teaching, training, and actively listening to associates; touring stores and providing feedback; communicating and collaborating with all levels of associates regarding store operations; utilizing technology, business initiatives, merchandising, and company direction; introducing and leading company change efforts; providing clear expectations and guidance to implement business solutions; and communicating business objectives to teams.
- Models and demonstrates exceptional customer service standards by following the One Best Way (OBW) service model; manages and supports customer service initiatives and community programs; ensures customer needs and issues are resolved; develops and implements action plans to correct deficiencies; provides process improvement leadership to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
- Drives the store area’s financial performance by reviewing PL statements; assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and controlling expenses; ensuring sales-indexed merchandise presentation, seasonal transitions, inventory flow, and operational processes; developing action plans to mitigate shrink and achieve sales and profit goals.
- Provides supervision and development opportunities for hourly associates by hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, setting expectations, recognizing associates, promoting belonging, and recruiting to meet staffing needs and growth potential.
- Coordinates and oversees job-related activities by developing relationships with stakeholders, supporting plans to meet customer and business needs, communicating goals, building accountability, measuring progress, and addressing improvement opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans and applying Open Door Policy in business processes.
- Promotes a culture of belonging, integrity, and customer focus; fosters teamwork across diverse groups; empowers and develops talent; and supports Walmart’s values and inclusion initiatives.
