• Prepares, ice, and decorates cakes and other baked goods for display or customer requests.
• Traces and copies drawings onto cakes using templates or free-hand sketches; matches and blends icing colors.
• Selects decorating materials and tools; makes quick decisions under time pressure and takes initiative.
• Cleans, assembles, and prepares equipment; ensures working order under supervision; complies with age requirements where applicable.
• Stays current with cake decorating trends and plans production schedules in conjunction with seasons, store promotions, and community events.
• Inspects products for quality and food safety according to Company standards.
• Provides friendly, customer service-oriented assistance by greeting customers and fulfilling requests.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary work environment by following safety procedures.
• Promotes product sales through suggestive selling initiatives.

• Ability to develop and plan creative designs on baked goods.
• Ability to use precision hand tools for decorating, carving, sculpting, etc.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain department equipment.
• Effective written and verbal communication with customers and partners.
• Ability to work well with others and support a team environment.
• Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Awareness of hazards and the ability to remedy or warn appropriately; report hazards when needed.

• High school Diploma or GED and six or more months of related experience preferred.
• Minimum of 18 years of age required; 18+ to operate or clean motorized equipment; 21+ to drive for company business per policy.
• On-the-job training typically provided.
• Food Handler certification required; decorator certification desirable.

• Close and distance vision, depth perception; continuous standing, walking, and fine finger movements.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs continuously and up to 75 lbs occasionally; frequent bending or kneeling may be required.
• Attendance at work is required.

• Retail store setting with occasional exposure to extreme cold, wet or damp conditions, and cleaning agents.
• Quiet to moderate noise level.
