As a Juvenile Justice Specialist 5 at Swanson Center for Youth – Monroe, you will guide daily operations in a secure care environment dedicated to helping young people grow, change, and succeed.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED or one year of experience in any field plus:
  • Three years of experience in a residential, correctional, behavioral health, or group home setting with responsibility for one or more of the following: rehabilitation of delinquent youth, clinical care, custody, or security;
  • Three years of experience in Probation and Parole.

Job Duties
  • Operational Supervision & Security Oversight
    • Direct and monitor youth and staff movement to maintain a safe, secure environment.
    • Conduct security checks of buildings, grounds, gates, and fences in accordance with OJJ and facility procedures.
    • Oversee youth movement during meals, education, recreation, medical visits, and other daily activities.
    • Maintain custody, control, and safety throughout the facility and prepare required reports and shift documentation.
  • Compliance, Training & Safety Programs
    • Participate in ACA and Performance-based Standards (PbS) audits.
    • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Serve as a training officer and collaborate with the safety officer to coordinate safety programs and develop safety-related policies.
    • Compile and analyze accident and hazard data to support safety improvements.
    • Participate in treatment team meetings and serve on Code of Conduct committees as assigned.
  • Emergency Response & Contraband Control
    • Respond to emergencies and critical incidents as directed.
    • Conduct or assist with searches of youth, staff, property, and living areas to prevent and control contraband.
    • Complete and submit all required documentation related to searches and incidents.
  • Staff Leadership & Administrative Duties
    • Ensure timely submission of subordinate time and attendance records.
    • Prepare CPM planning and performance evaluations; identify training needs for staff development.
    • Provide coaching, counseling, and guidance to staff and consult with higher-level supervisors on personnel matters.
    • Collaborate with other disciplines to support facility operations.
  • Additional Duties
    • Remain subject to 24‑hour call and perform related duties as needed.
    • Serve in the absence of the Juvenile Justice Specialist 6 or Corrections Lieutenant Colonel.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations.

The Juvenile Justice Specialist 5 title has a Special Entrance Rate of $1,971.20 biweekly. Appointment Type:
