Surgical Technologist PRN - Operating Room

The Surgical Technologist 1 prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures. Follows hospital regulations and industry procedures to tend to patient during pre-operation procedures. Performs surgical case preparation i.e. surgical instrumentation and medical equipment. Relies on education and training to complete responsibilities. Works under general supervision.

• Surgical Case Preparation:
  Prepare and maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies for procedures and specialty areas, with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Quality & Patient Safety:
  Provide appropriate procedure supplies and equipment within guidelines; transport patients safely without delay; assist in positioning patients; follow AORN guidelines with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually.
• Collaboration & Teamwork:
  Anticipate surgeon needs by following case progress with no more than 2 documented surgeon complaints annually; participate in departmental improvement activities and staff meetings with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually; assist OR staff with room turnovers to help decrease turnover times with no more than 2 documented corrective incidents annually; respond to overhead pages in less than 3 minutes with no more than 2 documented incidents annually;
  
  assist with clerical OR desk duties after hours as needed with no more than 2 documented incidents annually.
• Other Duties as Assigned:
  Complete any additional duties as assigned.

• 1 year experience in OR or graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
• High School or equivalent and graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program, or 1 year experience in OR
• Communication, customer service, and computer skills; knowledge of medical terminology
• BLS certification within 6 months
