Construction Accountant
A well-established construction organization known for delivering complex projects with precision is seeking an experienced Construction Accountant to oversee the financial performance of active construction jobs. This role plays a critical part in job cost accounting, financial reporting, and supporting project leadership with clear insights into cost control and profitability. Hours & Pay
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually
- Employment Type: Direct Hire
- Manage job cost accounting for multiple active construction projects.
- Track and analyze project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Prepare and review monthly job cost reports, WIP schedules, and project profitability analyses.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including subcontractor payment s.
- Prepare and submit progress billings, change orders, and retainage.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Monitor construction contracts to ensure billing aligns with terms and project milestones.
- Support payroll processing related to construction labor and job allocations.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, lien waivers, insurance requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Assist with audits, financial reviews, and internal control processes.
- Collaborate with project managers to identify cost variances, forecast expenses, and address potential overruns.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience; construction or project-based accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, and retainage.
- Experience using construction accounting software such as Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, or Quick Books.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Clear communication skills with a strong problem-solving mindset.
- Experience working with subcontractors and vendor contracts preferred.
- Knowledge of construction-related compliance, including sales tax, use tax, and payroll tax, preferred.
- Ability to analyze financial data and provide meaningful, actionable insights across multiple projects.
