SummaryThe Manager in Training is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The candidate should be knowledgeable in each product area or department, help determine methods and approaches to achieve store goals, uphold policies, procedures, and standards, promote sales and promotions, and serve as an ambassador for Hibbett I City Gear to create a unique customer experience.
The role includes supervisory control in the Store Manager’s absence and training in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear.
- Consult on action plans to meet departmental and store goals such as selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to complete departmental responsibilities and standards.
- Keep the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Ensure quality customer service is maintained.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed and receive training for the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
- Provide extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and standards listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and related memos.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring accurate internal control procedures and reporting potential fraud risks to management.
- Supervise employees when the Store Manager is absent and carry out supervisory duties per company policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, directing work, and resolving issues.
- Experience working in a retail environment, preferably footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in team management and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without prompting.
- Strong attention to detail and capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
