Job Summary
Aquarion is hiring an intern in Water Quality! This position will assist the Lead and Copper Program Manager with water quality tasks related to meeting compliance with current and future lead and copper regulations. The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service skills. This internship is an opportunity to gain invaluable experience in the world of drinking water compliance and public health.
PrincipalResponsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of notifications to consumers regarding service lines.
- Assist in the review of language requirements related to customer communications for drinking water compliance.
- Perform data review as directed related to identification of service lines and customer mailings.
- Perform ongoing recordkeeping efforts for property manager certifications.
- Perform outreach to customers related to identifying unknown service lines and for sampling requests.
- As needed, safely drive to customer homes within Aquarion’s Connecticut systems to drop off and pick up samples.
- Support the Water Quality Information Services Coordinator with soliciting customer participation in the lead and copper monitoring program, as well as communicating results.
- Support the laboratory information system process by receiving samples. Prepare samples for transference to contract laboratories.
- Performs all duties in a manner consistent with company safety procedures for working and general driving safety.
- The position may also assist with the Connecticut reservoir deeps program when needed, which involves working on a boat to collect water samples from a reservoir.
- Experience in the drinking water field is desired. Interest in regulatory compliance and how drinking water utilities maintain regulatory compliance.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as above average problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and Power Point
- 1-2 years experience with Customer Service
- Clean driving record
- Applicants must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Have or be pursuing a Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Boating experience including Boating Certificate from CTDEEP preferred
- We are seeking an immediate hire for this position. This is a temporary, part-time, non-benefit eligible position based out of our Monroe Office (Monroe, CT).
- The chosen candidate can work up to 29 hours each week between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. (Monday through Friday).
- Salary will be $20.00/hour
