POSITION OVERVIEW

As our School Counselor, you'll play a crucial role in creating a positive, supportive environment where students thrive academically and personally. Working across our innovative K‑8 schools, you'll provide essential counseling services, crisis intervention, and wellness programming that empowers students to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Deliver individual and group counseling addressing academic, personal, and social concerns.
  • Conduct assessments to identify student strengths, challenges, and barriers to success.
  • Create personalized support plans that foster healthy development and emotional well‑being.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and emergency response for students facing challenging situations.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Support students in navigating academic pathways and goal‑setting.
  • Provide guidance on post‑secondary education and career exploration opportunities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and families to develop effective intervention strategies.
  • Help students build resilience, self‑advocacy, and decision‑making skills.
  • Implement programs and workshops promoting positive mental health and conflict resolution.
  • Lead bullying prevention initiatives and social‑emotional learning programs.
  • Collaborate with leadership to create safe, inclusive, and supportive school environments.
  • Stay current with counseling best practices and mental health trends.
  • Work within multidisciplinary teams to address comprehensive student needs.
WHAT YOU BRING ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling Psychology, or related field.
  • State certification or licensure as a School Counselor.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and mental health.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws regarding student privacy and confidentiality.
  • Previous school counseling experience preferred, especially in charter school settings.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for connecting with diverse populations.
  • Empathetic and compassionate demeanor with genuine interest in student well‑being.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and intervention strategy development skills.
