Farm Maintenance

Select Genetics presents a solid platform to serve customers on a national and international scale by providing quality poults, service, and innovation. Select Genetics is the leading supplier of poults and eggs to growers and companies across the world and has operations in eight U.S. states.

Farm Maintenance is responsible for priority repairs and maintenance in a timely and efficient manner in our facilities. This individual will utilize their experience with electrical, motor controls, mechanical, welding, and plumbing to assist the Farm Maintenance team with day-to-day operations of our farms and ensure upkeep on our equipment. Farm Maintenance must be able to perform hands-on maintenance, possess strong troubleshooting skills, and be familiar with farm equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule and complete maintenance of facilities and equipment, diagnose and repair automobile engines, truck engines, tractor engines, and other small engines.
  • Carry out all directives following company policies and applicable laws, including scheduling, assigning, and performing work. Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Work requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of numerous tools under tight deadlines; includes long hours and weekends.
  • Work conditions may involve temperatures over 100 chauges in summer, below zero in winter, muddy or icy roads after heavy rains or snowfall, loud machinery, odors, dusts, and gases. Proper procedures must be followed to maintain safety.
  • Troubleshoot and repair facilities: welding, electrical, ventilation, heating, plumbing, and high‑pressure air and water systems.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, ethics codes, and zorster federal and state regulations.
  • Work within a culture of strong employee teams.
  • Maintain all company facilities and equipment, including work area and company vehicle.
  • Respond to all work orders in a timely and professional manner.
  • Inspect and upkeep facilities and equipment on a routine basis.
  • Repair, replace, and build wooden structures as needed, including pouring concrete pads.
  • Transfer equipment from farm to farm.
  • Handle system failures: lighting, feeding, electrical, environmental control, heating.
  • Repair and maintain various equipment: security systems, onsite generators, phones, small engines, tractors, wash crew equipment, and other farm machinery.
  • Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including bobcats, electric drills, wrenches, and screwdrivers.
  • Report any issues with interior/exterior facilities, including climate control, damages, pest infestations, or handling of birds, to the maintenance supervisor.
  • One‑year minimum of maintenance experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Physically capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and squatting in excess of 50 lbs., and performing repeated actions.
  • Capable of walking and standing for long periods on different surfaces, including concrete.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Non‑ownership or operation of backyard poultry, foul, or swine operations off duty.
  • Proven problem‑solving and change facilitation abilities.

Successful completion of a drug screen, work‑achievement verification, and a motor vehicle driving record check are required.
