Position: Banquet Captain-CNB (PT)
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Banquets Manager, F&B Lead is responsible on the day to day activities of the Banquets operations. This position is responsible for assisting with the overall planning of banquet operations and managing of Banquets servers. This position is also responsible in assisting with the implementation of all new F&B or Banquets Operations projects. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities
Providing leadership, direction and mentoring to the banquet operation on a shift basisImplementing banquet strategic plans under the direction of the ManagerReviewing all banquet set ups, Banquet Event Orders, station assignmentsOrdering specialty equipment if required for functionsHolding pre-function staff meetings to ensure guest specifications are metScheduling and supervising employeesMaximizing the revenues of the banquet operation while minimizing operating costsOffering banquet expertise to internal and external customersReviewing all outlet banquet related POs and invoices for accuracyParticipating in the monthly inventory countCommunicating effectively with all appropriate operational departmentsDeveloping and cultivating strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and employees)Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulationsPerforms other duties as assignedEducation and Qualification Requirements
Post Secondary in hospitality or hotel education or suitable combination or education and experienceAt least 1 year banquet management experience;Computer literacy in MS Office ApplicationsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProven leadership skills and the ability to train and develop employeesAbility to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communicationA commitment to continually increase your knowledge of our products and services in order to offer exceptional experiences to our guestsAbility to professionally handle situations that may arise due to intoxicated guestsAbility to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-pacedand at times stressful environmentAbility to obtain NB Responsible Beverage CertificationMust be able to pass a criminal background checkMust be 19 years of age or olderWork Environment Considerations
Fast paced with multiple priorities, deadlines and deliverables;This role requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 35 lbs.The role requires a flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, and will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
