A Cashier associate provides aggressive customer service by greeting customers as they enter the store and by processing transactions accurately and promptly. The Cashier greets customers at the register, scans merchandise, processes sales, refunds/exchanges, and closes transactions. The role includes training, maintenance and stocking responsibilities as assigned. Since the Cashier is often the first and last associate customers encounter, they should greet customers on entry and thank them on exit.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understanding and conducting oneself according to CNRG’s Mission and Values
  • Accurately processing customer transactions in an orderly, timely, and friendly manner (credit cards, cash, checks, etc.)
  • Greeting customers as they enter and exit the store, creating a lasting impression of friendliness
  • Verifying merchandise quantities, descriptions, and prices to ensure accuracy when completing a transaction
  • Handling returns/exchanges and sales of merchandise
  • Answering incoming phone calls in a prompt, efficient and courteous manner
  • Receiving payment on commercial accounts, receiving money from drivers on COD tickets and aiding in credit application completion
  • Completing and filing due tickets for customers needing a later pick-up
  • Completing and filing rain checks for out-of-stock items
  • Accurately counting down all tenders, preparing deposits and organizing the drawer for the following day
  • Utilizing the credit and check verification system according to established company policy and procedures
  • Ensuring the daily inflow and outflow of paperwork is handled efficiently according to procedures
  • Directing customers to items in the store and requesting assistance from other team members as needed
  • Maintaining cash controls to protect company assets
  • Maintaining a positive customer service attitude at all times
  • Following all Cashier procedures
  • Accurately determining differences between similar products
  • Helping keep the store clean
  • Other tasks as assigned by store management

Qualifications and Requirements

Must consistently demonstrate CNRG’s Mission and Values. Effective oral and written communication skills are required to interact with customers, vendors, and associates. Candidates should be customer service-oriented, team-oriented, and have good organizational skills. The role requires the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Physical requirements include climbing ladders, reaching, bending, twisting, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs., handling large irregular items, and stocking items in overhead areas.

The ability to count and distinguish denominations of money and maintain product knowledge is essential. A flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays is required.
