Human Resources Manager Position Summary
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for leading all human resource functions within a manufacturing/production environment. This role partners closely with plant leadership to support operational goals, maintain compliance, improve employee engagement, and ensure a safe, productive, and respectful workplace for both hourly and salaried employees. Key Responsibilities Employee Relations & Workforce Management- Act as the primary HR contact for hourly and salaried employees across production departments
- Address employee concerns, conduct workplace investigations, and manage disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy and employment law
- Support supervisors and managers with performance management, coaching, attendance issues, and corrective action
- Promote a positive shop-floor culture focused on accountability, teamwork, and respect
- Engage with employees
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for manufacturing roles including production, skilled trades, maintenance, and supervision
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and training for new hires, ensuring safety and policy compliance
- Maintain job descriptions aligned with operational needs and physical job requirements
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour, FMLA, ADA, and OSHA-related HR practices
- Partner with Safety and Operations teams to support safety initiatives, training, and incident documentation
- Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures specific to a manufacturing environment
- Maintain accurate employee files, training records, and HR documentation
- Coordinate training programs for production employees on attendance and leadership development
- Support supervisor and lead training to strengthen frontline leadership effectiveness
- Assist with succession planning and workforce development initiatives
- Assist with benefits administration and employee benefits communication
- Support wage reviews, shift differentials, overtime policies, and incentive programs
- Oversee timekeeping and attendance policies in coordination with payroll
- Track and analyze HR metrics such as turnover, absenteeism, safety trends, and employee engagement
- Identify trends and recommend improvements to retention, productivity, and morale
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with production goals
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Or 4-5 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance
- Experience supporting work forces and frontline supervisors
- Excellent communication, organization, and conflict-resolution skills
Preferred
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR)
- Experience in high-volume or multi-shift manufacturing environments
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills
- Experience partnering with safety and operations teams
- Practical, hands-on HR leadership
- Strong judgment and decision-making
- Ability to build trust on the production floor
- Attention to detail and follow-through
- Comfortable handling sensitive employee matters
- Frequent interaction on the production floor
- Exposure to manufacturing conditions (noise, PPE requirements, varying temperatures)
- Occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekend availability to support production schedules
