Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) is seeking an enthusiastic End User Computing Apprentice to join our Digital Workplace team. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your career in IT within the NHS, gaining hands-on experience while completing your apprenticeship qualification.

You will be the first point of contact for service users, providing efficient support and administration to the Digital Workplace teams. Working closely with colleagues across NHS Wales, you will help maintain systems, support operational services, and contribute to improving digital services.

Main duties of the job

Within the Digital Workplace team, act as the first point of contact for callers and service users, providing end user support and responding to queries efficiently.

Monitor ITSM call systems, resolving or escalating requests as appropriate.

Maintain and update spreadsheets, databases, and dashboards to ensure accurate reporting.

Assist with agendas, reports, and documentation for the Digital Workplace teams.

Collaborate with colleagues and external organisations to optimise resources and improve departmental performance.

Attend educational establishment in line with apprenticeship programme requirements.

As an End User Computing Apprentice
, you will work towards a Level 3 or Level 4 qualification relevant to the role. You will be expected to take responsibility for completing all elements of your apprenticeship programme, including coursework, assessments, and scheduled learning activities.

This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while developing your technical skills in a supportive environment. It’s an excellent starting point for building a long-term career in IT, combining structured study with practical, on-the-job learning.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Educated to Level 3 (e.g. A Level standard, National Diploma or higher) or possess the equivalent level of experience
  • Knowledge of end user IT systems and procedures
Experience
  • Experience of Word, Excel and a good knowledge of information systems (including databases)
Skills and Attributes
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh
