Appointments are hired at the first step of the range. The second step is paid after the first year of satisfactory service with subsequent steps annually thereafter to a maximum sixth step.

5 days per week, 8 hours per day
Monday through Friday (6:00am – 2:30pm)
Evening and weekend hours may be required
The District currently pays for a health options for the employee and dependents. Employees may elect to pay a premium for a higher health option. Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents is District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid. The estimated cost of District provided benefits (health, dental, vision, and life) is $24,408 annually.
Job DescriptionMaintenance Technician 50%
DEFINITION Under general supervision, performs a wide range of semi-skilled trades duties involving the maintenance, repair and construction of school facilities, offices and large buildings; performs basic and broad support for carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding, HVAC and other services; operates a variety of hand and power tools in a safe and effective manner; and performs related work as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is the second working level class in the Maintenance Support Series within the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD). Incumbents in this class perform semi-skilled duties in support of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, locksmith, welding, HVAC and other services. Incumbents function as generalists, performing semi-skilled duties that emphasize preventive maintenance and require a basic and general knowledge of multiple trade areas, but do not require advanced-level skills in any single area.
This class can be distinguished from the lower-level Maintenance Assistant class because incumbents in this class perform more complex duties; it can also be distinguished from higher-level Maintenance Specialist classes because incumbents in those classes perform the full range of skilled duties required in a specialized maintenance trade area.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Incumbents in this class work under the general supervision of a manager, working alone on routine or regular work assignments and checking with the supervisor on non-routine assignments or when in doubt as to the correct procedures to follow. Incumbents do not directly or indirectly lead or supervise other full-time employees.
Maintenance Specialist, Access Control/Locksmith 50%
DEFINITION Under direction, independently performs the most difficult and complex journey-level trade duties as a maintenance specialist – access controls/locksmith; installs, repairs and maintains standard to complex lock and key systems, door hardware, and electronic access controls; administers a master record system of keys and locks; maintains and oversees district-wide access control system; performs semiskilled duties related to other maintenance trade areas;
and performs related work as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This is a specialist level, skilled maintenance class in the Maintenance Support Series within the Yosemite Community College District (YCCD). Incumbents work independently and perform complex journey-level duties related to access controls and locksmith. It can be distinguished from Maintenance Technician by the scope of duties and from higher-level lead classes.
