Summary
The Sales and Management Intern position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” Additionally, Sales and Management Interns perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g., cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work closely with the Store Manager to develop an understanding of how Buckle’s retail business works and what it takes to excel in management.
Compensation& Benefits
Pay range: $17‑$20/hr – The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job‑related reasons.
For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for teammates in this position.

- Sales Generation and Guest Service: Greet guests, answer questions, recommend merchandise, anticipate needs, demonstrate product, share knowledge, maintain current sales and promos, achieve sales goals, provide service in front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, register, help try on, check out, bag purchases, prepare merchandise for alterations, handle returns, use SPG, meet performance standards, place special orders, build client relationships, maintain high standards.
- Teammate Recruiting, Training and Development: Recognize recruiting opportunities, maintain positive attitude.
- Visual Merchandise Management: Present merchandise to maximize sales, stay current on product range, work with teammates and guests on improvements, ensure sales floor sized and freight displayed.
- Operations: Flexible schedule, open/close cash registers, perform cash handling, watch for security risks, follow loss prevention, maintain POS knowledge, execute payment policies, merchandising tasks, maintain clean store, provide feedback to manager, communicate violations, understand Buckle’s Code of Ethics and policies, perform additional duties.
- Complete Teammate Orientation, Beginning Leadership, and Recruiting, Interviewing and Hiring sections of the Buckle Management Manual.
- Provide weekly reports and progress updates to Area Manager and District Manager.
- Develop understanding of products, sales presentation and merchandising process.
- Manage a product category: set sales goals, educate teammates, track results.
- Lead and motivate the team using performance tracker tools such as specific denim brand, tops, accessories, shoes, Buckle card, active wear, outerwear, swimwear.
- Develop recruiting, merchandising and leadership skills.
- Participate monthly in conference calls.
- Take ownership of all required assignments.
- Fulfill the mission statement with high customer service and positive team spirit.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
