The District

The Yosemite Community College District is a multi‑college district. Modesto Junior College (MJC), the larger college, was founded in 1921 and is located in Modesto. Columbia College was founded in 1968 and is located near Columbia State Historic Park in the foothills of the Sierra Mountains. The colleges work closely with nearby universities and local businesses to support economic and community development.

Custodial Services Manager - Facilities Planning, Maintenance & Transportation - Central Services

Salary Range:
Management Salary Schedule (2025‑2026) Range 23: $6,196 to $7,864 monthly / $6,447 to $8,115 monthly with Doctoral. Stipend is provided for an earned doctorate.

Position Summary

Under direction, plans, organizes, directs, and manages the custodial operations and activities related to campus maintenance. Plans and administers district policies and procedures, supports campus events, and performs other duties as assigned.

Supervision

Receives direction from the Senior Director of Facilities Planning, Maintenance Transportation. Provides direct and indirect supervision to custodial services personnel as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Completion of two years of college coursework or industry‑applicable certifications in custodial maintenance/trades.
  • Experience
    :
    Three years of increasingly responsible experience in custodial maintenance, including one year in a supervisory or lead capacity.
Knowledge of
  • Policies, procedures, equipment, materials and supplies related to custodial maintenance and support for campus events and activities.
  • Use of tools, equipment, supplies, practices, and methods associated with custodial maintenance.
  • Principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment review, and training staff.
  • Applicable safety and health regulations, safe work procedures, and practices.
  • Computer applications, automated work order systems, and district software programs.
  • Basic principles of procurement.
Ability to
  • Plan, organize, and direct a program of custodial maintenance and support.
  • Estimate time and costs for comprehensive custodial operations.
  • Effectively supervise and train staff.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Desirable Qualifications

Experience with recycling and energy conservation programs, procurement processes, and advanced custodial software systems is preferred.

  • Manage, plan, supervise and coordinate custodial operations across district buildings.
  • Provide leadership and coordination in the care and cleanliness of all district facilities.
  • Plan, organize, supervise and coordinate maintenance operations.
  • Administer custodial needs through the computerized work order system and other district programs.
  • Develop work schedules; schedule overtime; plan work activities; inspect work; recommend improved methods and changes.
  • Assist in training, coordination, and scheduling for recycling and energy conservation programs.
  • Establish and monitor supply and equipment inventories; test new supplies and equipment; research and recommend major acquisitions.
  • Perform daily building inspections to establish work priorities.
