Position Summary Information
Scope of Assignment
DEFINITION
The Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations provides strategic and organizational leadership over the district's technology infrastructure, including network, server, storage, unified communications, cloud platforms, and data center services. This position may lead managers, supervisors, and technical professionals, ensuring the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure infrastructure services and alignment with district priorities.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the Chief Technology Officer and the Vice Chancellor of Information Technology & Institutional Research. Provides leadership and direction to managers, supervisors, and technical professionals responsible for all infrastructure domains.

Education and Experience:
* Education:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in information technology, computer science, or a related field.
* Experience:
Five years of progressive management experience supervising infrastructure teams in network, server, storage, unified communications, or data center environments.
Knowledge of:
* Principles, theories, methods, practices, and trends used in the assigned area of expertise.
* Installation, maintenance, and support of system hardware and management software applicable to the assigned area of expertise.
* Staff selection, evaluation, and training techniques and documentation.
* Principles and techniques of computer programming, online systems, and database management systems; data server management and communications/network systems and equipment.
* System software management: characteristics and capabilities of modern computer operating systems, hardware, and software.
* Technical report writing.
* Software, hardware, network, and quality assurance standards.
* Virtual systems and supporting peripheral equipment; understanding of networked/distributed computing environments.
* Principles, theories, methods, and practices of effective project management.
Ability To:
* Design and develop practical solutions to resolve system or software malfunctions.
* Understand, monitor, and apply practical quality control standards in IT.
* Understand and independently carry out complex oral and written instructions.
* Learn, interpret, and successfully apply office policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
* Diplomatically mediate, negotiate, and prioritize conflicting demands.
* Be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines.
* Use good judgment to recognize the scope of delegated authority; analyze situations and make decisions on procedural matters without immediate supervision.
* Analyze projects under time pressure; maintain the security and confidentiality of specified records and information.
