- Pay or shift range: $100,000 USD to $120,000 USD
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
SUMMARY: The Controller oversees all accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls for a tactical apparel and gear company with a full distribution center. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely close processes, effective cash management, and compliance with applicable regulations, while supporting leadership with financial analysis and decision-making. The Controller manages a team of three accounting professionals.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain the chart of accounts
- Prepare month-end journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
- Maintain primary responsibility for the general ledger
Accounting Operations
- Supervise Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Oversee cash receipts, disbursements, and reconciliations
- Manage cash flow and banking activities
Inventory & Cost Accounting
- Research inventory cost variances to standard monthly
- Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation for distribution operations
Budgeting, Forecasting & Commissions
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes >
- Oversee sales commission calculations, reporting, and payouts
- Prepare required regulatory filings and internal reports
- Support audits and tax compliance with external partners
- Manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff
- Perform other duties as assigned
Monitor performance against budget and provide variance analysis
EXPERIENCE/
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- ERP System Experience, knowledge of ABS or AS400 is a plus
- Experience in inventory-based or distribution environments

CONDITIONS:
- This position is primarily performed in an on-site office environment.
- The role requires prolonged periods of sitting, working at a desk, and using a computer, keyboard, and telephone.
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching may be required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 15 pounds occasionally.
- Work is generally performed during standard business hours; additional hours may be required during month-end, year-end, or peak business periods.
