The Hourly Range: $54.27 to $86.76
Doctorate Range: $63.95 to $89.04
Part Time Faculty office Hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.

Scope Of Assignment

The successful candidate will join the Accommodations & Support Services department that continues to create curriculum responsive to student needs, increasing student completion through the implementation of strategies geared to increase student equity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or a Bachelor’s degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT);
  • Either 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate‑level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a post‑secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services program or in a program dealing with people with disabilities, or two years of full‑time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following: (A) Counseling for students with disabilities;

    or (B) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military, or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities are for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.

Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in community college‑based grant funded programs and/or categorical programs.
  • Competence in current professional principles, practices and techniques for counseling.
  • Experience in counseling community college students from traditionally disadvantaged backgrounds, students with disabilities, Veterans, and/or single parents.
  • Ability to use available technologies and classroom assessment instruments/techniques, and the ability to provide effective interpretation to faculty and administrators.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach counseling courses and facilitate workshops, orientations, and seminars.
  • Ability to conduct and develop educational workshops; educational plans, CSU/UC applications, TAG, and advising.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of counseling approaches for students to compensate for educational limitations posed by specific disabilities.
  • Evidence of knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding academic accommodations as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • At least two years of counseling experience (either full‑time or the equivalent to full‑time) at a higher education institution, within the last six years.
  • Experience counseling students about community college options, including certificates, associate degrees, and/or transferring to four‑year institutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in interpreting IEPs, medical, psychological, and rehabilitation reports.
  • Familiarity with and ability to interpret policies specific to ASC populations including ADA, CCCCO, and educational planning.
  • Sensitivity to issues (career, personal, social) faced by ASC students as well as first‑generation, underrepresented, and non‑traditional college students.
  • Knowledge of and interest in implementing technology‑enhanced services.
  • Willingness to participate in Student Services (Rise Up, Puente Program, Umoja, Summer Bridge, athletic counseling, etc.).
