Columbia College is seeking a part-time faculty member in Hospitality Management who will share the college’s commitment to educating its diverse student population. The college currently serves over 4,000 students annually and is committed to promoting equitable outcomes among its diverse population.
Position InformationJob Title: Part-Time Instructor of Hospitality Management - Career Technical Education - Columbia College
Hourly Salary: $78.15 to $124.94
Doctorate Salary: $92.09 to $128.22
Part-Time Faculty Office Hour Rate: $30 per hour
Benefits: Not eligible for benefits except Workers’ Compensation coverage
Scope of AssignmentThe successful candidate will join a Hospitality Management program that continues to create curriculum responsive to student needs and increase student completion through the implementation of strategies geared to increase student equity.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience in Hospitality Management / Culinary Arts, or associate degree(s) in Hospitality Management / Culinary Arts and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.

- Education and/or experience in teaching in Hospitality Management / Culinary Arts at the community college level.
- Current knowledge of Culinary Arts practices and assessment processes for improving student success.
- Competence in new pedagogies such as contextualized learning and other pedagogies directed at improving student success and equity.
- Recent experience working with minority students and understanding historical patterns of exclusion in higher education.
- Experience with culturally responsive teaching relevant to students’ lives and communities.
- Demonstrated ability to address equity gaps within coursework and classroom.
- Knowledge of the Hispanic-Serving designation for institutional practices.
- Relevant industry certification and Serv Safe Food Handler/Alcohol Instructor status.
- Experience in a variety of commercial kitchen settings, including fine dining and institutional food service.
- Ability to collaborate with local employers and associations to provide external learning experiences.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Teach lower division college courses in Hospitality Management.
- Advance equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction following course outlines.
- Inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations and report students’ academic progress.
- Maintain attendance and academic records as required.
- Develop, implement, and assess student‑learning outcomes for courses and programs and use results for improvement.
- Engage in data inquiry and self‑assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity.
- Participate in professional development activities to satisfy mandatory FLEX requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter and effective teaching/learning strategies for all learning styles.
- Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
