Salary Range / Other

Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience.  Salary Schedule – $75,979 to $141,835 per year or $89,533 to $145,028 with an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $117,949 or $121,140 with an earned doctorate.

Benefits

The District currently pays for a health options for the employee and dependents. Employees may elect to pay a premium for a higher health option. Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents is District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid. The estimated cost of District provided benefits (health, dental, vision, and life) is $24,408 annually.

Required Qualifications Summary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master’s in music OR Bachelor’s in music AND Master’s in humanities OR the equivalent. Determined by California State Chancellor’s Office. Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges (cccco.edu). Job Description Summary GENERAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teaching lower division college courses in, but not limited to, Symphonic Band, Community Band, Jazz Band, Applied Brass, Woodwinds & Percussion, Music Appreciation, and other general education courses
  • Produce recitals and concerts; plan, promote and participate in student and faculty recitals and concerts
  • Supervise the use of performance venues on evenings and weekends for assigned performance projects
  • Participate in the activities associated with promoting a recital or concert, including, but not limited to, writing press releases, coordinating social media campaigns, and collaborating with the college’s public relations and marketing staff to develop a unified promotional approach for performances
  • Implement a fair and equitable audition process that provides performance opportunities for all interested students
  • Outreach and recruitment
  • Teach applied woodwinds, brass, and percussion
  • Maintain wind and percussion instrument inventory
  • Maintain sheet music library
  • Advancing equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines
  • Informing students of course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements
  • Preparing and grading class assignments and examinations and informing students of their academic progress
  • Maintaining attendance, scholastic, and other records and submitting them according to published policies and deadlines
  • Attending department, division, and college-wide meetings on a regular basis
  • Posting and holding sufficient and regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy
  • Developing, implementing, and assessing student-learning outcomes for courses and programs and using the results for improvement
  • Engaging in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity
  • Collaborating in the development and revision of curriculum and program review
  • Engaging in department program improvement initiatives
  • Participating in professional development activities, both departmental and college-wide, especially connected to closing disproportionate impact gaps and improving completion goals
