Placement on the Yosemite Community College District salary schedule dependent upon education and experience.  Salary Schedule – $75,979 to $141,835 per year or $89,533 to $145,028 with an earned doctorate. New personnel limited to a maximum tenth step initial placement based on previous experience – maximum equals $117,949 or $121,140 with an earned doctorate.

The District currently pays for health options for the employee and dependents. Employees may elect to pay a premium for a higher health option. Vision care and dental insurance premiums for the employee and dependents are District paid. Income protection and life insurance premiums for the employee are also District paid. The estimated cost of District provided benefits (health, dental, vision, and life) is $24,408 annually.

Responsibilities
  • Teach lower division college courses in Communication Studies, including Public Speaking, Introduction to Human Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Argumentation and/or Introduction to Debate.
  • Recruit for the Speech and Debate Team, Sigma Chi Eta honors society, and for the Communication Studies major.
  • Advance equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines.
  • Inform students of course requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
  • Prepare and grade class assignments and examinations and inform students of their academic progress.
  • Maintain attendance, scholastic, and other records and submit them according to published policies and deadlines.
  • Attend department, division, and college-wide meetings on a regular basis.
  • Post and hold sufficient and regular office hours in accordance with prevailing policy.
  • Develop, implement, and assess student-learning outcomes for courses and programs and use results for improvement.
  • Engage in data inquiry and self-assessment to develop strategies for student success, persistence, and equity.
  • Collaborate in curriculum development and program reviews.
  • Engage in department program improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development activities, especially connected to closing disproportionate impact gaps and improving completion goals.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter area and effective teaching/learning strategies to meet diverse learning styles.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Engage in the college’s participatory governance processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications Summary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s in speech, speech broadcasting, telecommunications, rhetoric, communication, communication studies, speech communication or organizational communication OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in drama/theater arts, mass communication or English OR the equivalent.
