Doctorate Range: $92.09 to $128.22
Part Time Faculty office Hours are paid at a flat rate of $30 per hour.
Not Eligible for Benefits:
With the exception of Workers’ Compensation coverage, not eligible to participate in the District’s benefit programs.
The successful candidate will join a Family Life program that continues to create curriculum responsive to student needs, increasing student completion through the implementation of strategies geared to increase student equity.
Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Master’s in family and consumer studies, life management/home economics or home economics education OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, gerontology, fashion, clothing and textiles, housing/interior design, foods/ nutrition or dietetics and food administration and the equivalent. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with persons of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
Knowledge of and ability to appraise the diverse backgrounds of community college students; sensitivity to the needs and challenges of a diverse student population. - Experience teaching Family Life courses at the community college level.
- Understanding of assessment processes for improving student success at course, program, and degree levels.
- Teaching Family Life competencies, material preparation, grading, and classroom management; some assignments may take place in area communities.
- Competence in new pedagogies directed at student success and equity; experience with culturally responsive teaching in Family Life.
- Experience with equity in the classroom and knowledge of Hispanic-Serving designations.
GENERAL
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Part of the teaching assignment may be online, in the evening, and/or on Saturdays. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Teaching lower division college courses in Family Life.
- Advancing equitable student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course outlines.
- Informing students of course requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements.
- Preparing and grading class assignments and examinations and informing students of their academic progress.
- Maintaining attendance, scholastic, and other records and submitting them according to published policies and deadlines.
- Developing, implementing, and assessing student-learning outcomes and using results for improvement.
