Overview
The Lead Child Group Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a nurturing and stimulating educational environment for young children. This role involves planning and implementing age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The Lead Child Group Teacher will work closely with children, parents, and staff to ensure a supportive and effective learning experience.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required.
- A minimum 12 units of Child Development or related classwork required.
- Two years of child-related experience or equivalent training with knowledge of child growth and development and nurturing guidance strategies preferred.
- Physical, mental, and emotional health adequate to perform duties
- Protect and honor individual integrity through confidentiality.
- Ability to work effectively with cultural/ ethnic diversity,
- Ability to work in a harmonious manager with subordinates, supervisors, and others.
- Interact effectively with infants, toddlers, and school age children.
- Ability to communicate in verbal and written form.
- Provide a safe and positive environment for children.
- Maintain confidential information of agency business, clients, and employees to legal standards and/or local regulations.
- Physical capability to lift over 20 pounds and engage in physical activity.
- Maintain current Medic First Aid certification and respond appropriately to medical incidents, ensuring the health and safety of clients and staff.
- Provide training and guidance and mentorship of frontline staff
- Implement department/program objectives.
- Promote a healthy working environment that values staff and equips them to succeed while making sustainable decisions in a way that strengthens both our workforce and our impact.
- Responsible for executing organizational strategies and initiatives.
- Complete a developmental assessment (ASQ) on each child quarterly.
- Document children’s progress and communicate with parent educators on child/parent related concerns and progress. Ensure a safe and clean environment for children.
- Plan and implement daily age-appropriate activities.
- Act as a role model for clients and children.
- Assist with data collection to meet program needs.
- Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
- Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
- Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques
- Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide.
- Attend all required meetings and trainings.
- Report any suspected child or dependent adult/elder abuse or neglect immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable.
- Report any client imminent danger to self or to others or gravely disabled immediately to direct supervisor or utilize the chain of command if supervisor is unavailable.
- Other duties as assigned.
